Next I will describe the use of implant positioning guides. These are based on a series of basic concepts, which are supported for biological success.
To understand its correct function, some concepts, that I will describe below, are necessary.

1.- The diameters of the teeth to be restored vary according to the type of tooth, so for lower incisors and upper lateral incisors, implants with narrow emergencies (NP: narrow platform) are used, for canines, upper central incisors and premolars, in both arches, regular diameter implants (RP: regular platform) are used; while ,to replace molars, wide platform implants (WP: wide platform) will be used.

2.- on the other hand, the distance in between an implant and a tooth is at least 1.5 mm, and between two implants, measured from end to end, 3 mm

Based on these two rules, the guides were developed, to facilitate both the work of the surgeon, and the laboratory technician, when making radiological splints, as well as the auxiliary staff of the clinic, when budgeting the number of implants to be placed, and the possibility of doing so in relation to the available mesio-distal space.

- The set of guides, 5 in total, have been designed as follows.

1.- For the placement of single implants: this guide has a star shape with three tips, one for NP implants (upper lateral incisors and lower incisors); another RP tip, for upper central incisors, canines and premolars; and a third WP, ​​for molars.

2.- Guides to place two contiguous implants, of this there are two types:

2.1- for placement of NP-NP, RP-RP and NP-RP implants.

2.2 Another guide to place: WP-WP, WP-RP and RP-WP.

3.- Guide to place 3 consecutive implants: this consists of 4 ends and allow planning all the possibilities of toothlessness of 3 contiguous implants.
