MODIFIED APICALLY REPOSITIONED TECHNIQUE (MARF)
The Modified Apically Repositioned Flap technique (MARF) described by Carnio et al is indicated in the augmentation the apico-coronal dimensions of attached gingiva around a single and multiple adjacent teeth. The MARF technique can also be employed to augment the donor area enhancing the predictability of the results in lateral as well in coronal pedicle flaps. The MARF technique provides clinicians with a simple and effective method to correct mucogingival defects that has several advantages over autografts and allografts. Some of advantages include its simplicity of execution, elimination of palatal donor tissue, requires no suture, limited chair time and excellent esthetics results.
